Blue Slope Farm
Four generations of agricultural tradition in rural Connecticut
Blue Slope's Cows:
The farm is home to over 200 very happy cows, heifers, and calves - all Holsteins. We currently milk 125 cows, twice daily, all year round. The average cow gives us 75 pounds of milk a day or more - that is nearly 10 gallons! Click on the link at left for information about our "mother raised" veal coming soon.
Blue Slope's Horses:
Betsy, Millie, Bonnie & Jewel - Blue Slope's pride & joy! These Belgian horses power the wagon rides that the Museum offers as part of its programs and events, and even plow our fields once and a while. Each mare (female horse) weights 2200 pounds!
That is as much as a small car, and twice the size of a standard riding horse. In spite of their imposing size and awesome power, these girls are as gentle and sweet as can be.
Blue Slope's Goats:
Blue Slope Farm is venturing into the goat meat business! We offer many different ways to purchase goats - live goats for you to finish, whole goats, and specialty cuts may be purchased directly from the farm. Or, you may purchase packaged goat meat at select retail locations and farmers markets. Click on the link at left for more information about our goat meat, prices, and recipes.
